Content: A study of representative Australian plays, selected for historical, dramatic, theatrical and cultural significance; textual analysis, practical workshop, an examination of Australian Theatrical expression and student-led seminars. Selection of texts varies from year to year.
Assessment: Participation in class and performance analysis (20 per cent); a workshop presentation of up to 30 minutes (30 per cent); an oral class presentation of up to 30 minutes (20 per cent); an essay equivalent to approximately 2000 words (30 per cent). Minimum 80 per cent attendance. Attendance at Theatre visits is compulsory. Results will be graded.

C31 viewing program; a further 10 x 2-hour weekly movement workshops and four 6-hour days (two weekends). 30 hours is allowed for dress rehearsal and performance of the finished movement pieces.

PROJECT STUDIES IN DRAMA 2 Credit points: 11.1

Contact: Four hours of individual and group project work for 15 weeks, 30 hours of vacation workshops and 20 hours of performance work and performance viewing. (First semester.)
Content: An opportunity to participate in projects exploring a specific theme using dramatic techniques, the extension of existing skills in vocal control and the interpretation of literature,research and dramatic documentation. Students are expected to demonstrate organisational and leadership skills.
Assessment: Class participation (25 per cent);
practical project work with a total performance work of up to one 1 hour (40 per cent); written project work of up to 2000 words (35 per cent). Results will be graded.

PROJECT STUDIES IN DRAMA 3 Credit points: 16.7
Staff: To be advised.
Special requirements: All projects in this subject will be student-initiated; only students with positive
submissions involving original thought and approach will be enrolled. The coordinating staff members and consultants conduct selection interviews; students are selected on the basis of their proposal and their past work in the Drama course. Only students who have consistently demonstrated a high level of commitment and competence will be considered.
Submissionsshould include statements covering: past activities in the Drama Department, reasons for wishing to undertake a research study or special project, and an outline of the proposed study or project. The number of Drama D projects approved each year will be influenced by the resources available.
Prerequisites: 33.3 credit points in Group 3 Drama subjects, or approved equivalent.
Contact: Undertaken over any period of time negotiated between the student and his/her staff supervisor.
Content: Projects will be seen as an individual concern, even though it may involve work done within a group project. Each student will nominate the method of presentation of the project or study, e.g., written submission, film, tape, performance, etc. Submissions and outlines must be typed and two copies submitted.
Assessment: Documentation of the project with an analytical report and self-assessment of approximately 2200 to 2500 words (30 per cent);
planning, workshops, and organisation (30 per cent);
presentation of the project (40 per cent). Results will be graded.

Content: This subject is designed for students undertaking Year4 of the BEd (Primary) course. In consultation with the Lecturer concerned, a special drama program will be devised for each student to suit both their interests and background.
